Michigan Valley Community Church (MVCC) held it's first servie on the first Sunday in November 1998. A group of believers envisioned a church that would reach the surrounding communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The work at MVCC continues to work to that end. MVCC is a non-denominational church with an acting board for its governance. For more about our Beliefs, Statement of Faith and Guidelines of Faith and Practice, see below.
1 Corinthians 1:10 (NKJV)
10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
"To make disciples of Jesus Christ by winning, connecting, building, equipping, and sending. To save the lost through Christ, and mature the saved through His Word."
The Great Commandment: "Jesus said, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart...soul...and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.'" Matt. 22:36-40
The Great Commission: "Jesus said, 'Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matt. 28:19-20
• To "Go...make disciples" is "EVANGELISM".
• To "Teach them...all things" is "DISCIPLESHIP".
• To "Love your neighbor as yourself" is "MINISTRY".
• To "Love God with all your heart" is "WORSHIP".
• To "Baptize..." is to "INCORPORATE INTO FELLOWSHIP".
We believe in God the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, that they are all equal but serve different functions. We believe that God created us to have fellowship with him.
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement of good works. Only by trusting in the saving grace found in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness, where man can be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. Romans 6:23;10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6; 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1
Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security. John 10:29, II Timothy 1:12, Hebrews 7:25; 10:10-14, I Peter 1:3-5
The Bible is God’s Word to all men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and it is living for now and for all eternity. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21, II Timothy 1:13, Psalm 119:10; 160; 12:6, Proverbs 30:5
Each believer is gifted by the Holy Spirit and is to use that gift for the common good of God’s work. There are different gifts given by the same God all used to build up the believers in Christ. I Corinthians 12:1-11
